Schuhproblem
Mariah und ihre Schuhe :-) Schon bei der letzten Tour war ihr zweimal ein Schuh auf der Bühne kaputtgegangen, jetzt verlor sie einen während ihres Auftritts in Japan, während sie gerade "Honey" performte.

Das ist fuer die deutschen, schweizer und oesterreichischen Fans die Moeglichkeit, an Mariah ueber "Charmbracelet", ihre Tour, eure Meetings mit ihr usw. zu schreiben.

"Dreamkids"
"Mariah Dream Kids" heißt ein soziales Projekt, mit dem Mariah Carey sich an der Unterstützung von sozial benachteiligten Kindern in Osaka beteiligt. Sie nutzte ihren Aufenthalt in der japanischen Stadt, um zu ihren Besuch im Universal Themen Park 1250 Kinder einzuladen. Der Bürgermeister überreichte ihr dafür symbolisch den Schlüssel zur Stadt.
Bei den MTV Deutschland News hieß es dazu: 
Mariah Carey weilt ja gerade in Japan, wo sie letzte Woche ihre Charmbracelet- Welttournee losgekickt hat. Trotz Tourstress schaffte sie es, bei den Universal-Studios in Osaka vorbeizuschauen, wo sie vom Bürgermeister den Schlüssel der Stadt überreicht bekam. Mariah war natürlich voll happy und bekundete auf japanisch, dass sie alle ganz lieb hat.

Mariah in Japan eingetroffen
Mariah Carey ist nach ihren Japan-Auftritten in Osaka, Fukuoka und Hiroshima heute ihn Tokio eingetroffen, wo sie vom 6.7. bis 10.7. drei Konzerte im Nippon Budokan geben wird. Danach wird sie weiter nach Nagoya reisen. In keinem Land außerhalb der USA gibt Mariah Carey so viele Konzerte wie in Japan.

Mariah Carey's Video zu "Boy (I Need You)" ist für die am 28. Juli bei MTV Brasil stattfindenden Video Music Awards in der Kategorie "Best International Video" nominiert.

Mariah Carey und Thomas Mottola wieder unter einem Dach...
...allerdings nur unter dem Dach von Universal. Ist schon witzig, was hat sich Mariah anstrengen müssen, um von SONY-Chef Mottola wegzukommen und nun sind beide wieder bei einer Firma. Nur ins Gehege kommen sie sich nicht. Denn Mariah's Ex-Chef und Ex-Ehemann hat nichts mit MC's Label "Monarc" zu tun - Mottola, der Anfang des Jahres SONY verließ, hat bei Universal sein eigenes Label, er hat das alte Label Casablanca Records "wiedererweckt", das er nach Auskunft von Universal nach eigenen Belieben gestalten kann.

Fanbook
Janel wird Mariah am 20. September wieder treffen, beim Konzert in Atlantic City, wo sie MC ein Fanbook überreichen möchte. Mariah begeisterte Fans in Tokio
Mariah Carey hat ihre japanischen Fans bei ihren Konzerten im Tokioter Budokan begeistert. Sie habe mit klarer, kraftvoller Stimme gesungen, auch ihre berühmten "highnotes" wobei die gute Akustik in der kleineren Halle (18.000 Plätze) von Vorteil gewesen sei gegenüber Mariah's bisherigen Tokio-Konzerten im Tokio Dome (57.000 Plätze). 
Die Bühnedeko und Show seien stimmungsvoll, die Band und die Backgroundsänger ebenfalls in bester Form gewesen.
Mariah habe viel mit den Fans kommuniziert, ein paar Worte dabei in japanisch gesprochen und beim Song "Hero" sei sie wieder von der Bühne herunter zu den Fans gegangen, wo sie zusammen mit ihnen sang, Hände schüttelte und kleine Geschenke überreicht bekam.

Das Cove-Magazin hat eine Umfrage nach den besten Stimmen gemacht und die Top Drei sind demzufolge Christina Aguilera vor Mariah Carey und Michael Jackson.

2,4 Mio. $ für US Musikunterricht
Die VH1 Save the Music Foundation hat gerade bekannt gegeben, daß sie mit dem Programm "VH1 Save the Music Week" bei der CBS News' THE EARLY SHOW insgesamt 2,4 Millionen Dollar an Spenden und bei Auktionen einsammeln konnte. Das Geld soll der Unterstützung des Musikunterrichts an den US-Schulen zugute kommen. Außerdem wurden von Bürgern über 1000 Musikinstrumente gespendet.
Zu den Unterstützern des Projekts gehören u.a. Mariah Carey, Uncle Kracker, Smash
Mouth, Monica, Jimmy Jam, Boyd Tinsley und Heather Headley.

Labelparty
Mariah Carey hat in Tokio auf einer Party ihren japanischen Gastgebern ihr Label "MonarC" vorgestellt. Mariah hält sich noch bis zum 15. Juli in Japan auf, wo sie insgesamt 10 Konzerte geben wird.

In der Zeitschrift "Urban Essentials" gibt es ein ausführliches Interview mit Mariah Carey, in dem sie über ihre Karriere spricht, wie sie zu ihrem neuen Label gekommen ist, was ihr Auszeichnungen und was ihr ihre Fans bedeuten, wie lächerlich sie die Klatschpresse findet und anderes mehr. Hier eine Abschrift:
Urban Essentials: Well Mariah, it's good to see you again. Welcome back to the UK. I look at you and I see an artist that has sold 160 million albums. That's a phenomenal amount of albums. To be honest it makes me think what spurs an artist like you on because you could easily retire now if you wanted to. 
Mariah: But how bored would I be? It's not like I'm 50 years old and I'm like let me retire. I've got a lot of energy and started doing this when I was right out of high school, so that's why it's weird to me. I hear these facts and figures and I don't even feel like its me they are talking about. My whole adult life has been in the spotlight, so it feels like I've grown up doing this. I guess I could retire but I love making music. I love the studio and I love doing what I do. 
Urban Essentials: You're one of the few artists that has actually made it to the super star level but then actually kept with an urban music feel. How important do you think urban music is in making you the success you are today? 
Mariah: I grew up on urban music so a lot of the mainstream public who doesn't listen to hip-hop stations and don't go to clubs, don't know DJs, they don't live that life style. They didn't realise in 1995, I was working with Old Dirty Bastard from Wu-Tang-Clan, like if you're gonna work with any of them, that would be the most surprising, the shocking one. Because the remixes were not on the albums and because they would be on BET as opposed to MTV because it would be on the hip-hop stations, the mainstream audience didn't really know about that side of my music so for me those moments were the fun moments. The moments when working with Snoop or working with Jay Z, Mobb Deep, Nas. The many people I have worked and collaborated with, for me its working creatively. Working with Busta, there's so many - Da Brat, working with Missy. Those are the moments that make me happy as a fan. I love doing ballads and I will always do ballads but I would be bored as hell if that's all I ever did. I keep being honest because people who don't know how many collaborations I've done. Finally hip-hop is being accepted on pop radio and embraced around the world, they're like 'so you gonna change your sound and like work with rappers now?' I'm like 'no, I've been doing this for years. Do your research.' 
Urban Essentials: To be honest, you was one of the pioneers of the vocal/rap collaborations.
Mariah: I feel that Mary J. Blige did a lot of the ground work for it, a lot of the collaborations, a lot of other things and she as an artist, I credit her a lot with that. In terms of people that were known in the pop world, songs like "Hero," I think I was pretty much kind of the only one going there.
Urban Essentials: You are without a doubt, one of the most successful female recording artists in history. You were the biggest selling artist of the decade in the 90's but what did it feel to receive the Blue Diamond Award for the hundred certifications because that's an amazing achievement for somebody especially as young as yourself?
Mariah: It was incredible and it didn't actually soak in until somebody actually explained to me that when you go gold, when you go platinum it counts as a certification and obviously I knew I received diamond awards for albums in the past but the hundredth certifications was like 'wow, amazing'. Then we had the party to celebrate with Andre Herel, it was fun. It was good, Andre knows how to throw a party!
Urban Essentials: Since we last spoke, you've signed to Def Jam, you've got a brand new album out which is absolutely phenomenal, in my opinion, one of your best albums. Butterfly was a great album but you've set a new milestone with this new album. It's a fact you could have picked anyone to go with. What made you go with Def Jam?
Mariah: Honestly, Lyor Cohen called me the day after the September 11th and it was like 'ok, when are we doing this?' and I wasn't even off that other label yet and he knew I was in the situation and it wasn't working. The fact that he was so focused and cared enough to even call, we continued having dialogue. Then Doug Morris, who I really respect and I think is one of the few good honourable people left in the music business, was very instrumental. They came over my house and they was like 'ok, here's the champagne goblets and here's the champagne for when we do business'. It wasn't even like I had a choice! I sat with everybody else and talked to the people that I really respect and love and really appreciate the way that they dealt with the situation and the way that the smart record executives were saying to me we know that you're going to take this situation, use it, write about it and make it your best work ever. They predicted what I felt but I just made the choice because it felt right and Lyor was very pro me having my own label, which is very important for me. I was getting approached by investors that were saying that you should just have your own label and not even deal with this whole thing, the Universal system is so powerful. Also Def Jam is more artist and music related and I felt like it was the right place for me to establish my own label and the right people to be working with. 
Urban Essentials: Lets talk about the label MonarC. We obviously know you've got this label and obviously we know you're gonna have artists coming from this label. Can you drop any names yet and can we get any inside information on who to watch out for?
Mariah: The only inside information I can give you is there's a group I've been working with, they are young [about] 14 [or] 15 but they're very much grown in their minds. One's a rapper from Oakland, one's a singer and I don't think there's ever been a duo like this, it's very unique, really fun working with them. They're like my little sisters, it's real cool. There's another extra surprise artist that I'm working with plus Trey Lorenz who sang 'I'll be there', he and his partner have been making a record that is I don't want to say it's the new back packerish R&B but it falls more into that lane. It's very real and it's very good. There's also some gospel artists that I've been talking to because its very important to me, I love gospel music and there are so many talented gospel artists.
Urban Essentials: Quincy Jones Lifetime Award, Grammy Awards, the American Music Awards, various other awards, numerous number 1 singles, albums that have gone gold, platinum, whatever you wanna say, various accolades, acting. But what do you feel is your biggest achievement?
Mariah: My biggest achievement, well I would have to break this down into a fan section. People have come up to me and said your music has helped me get through some difficult times in my life - that is very important to me. Also being a mixed race person, I know how I felt growing up - I felt like an outsider, I didn't really have somebody to look at and say this person is mixed race like me and they're ambiguous looking and they've made it and people understand who they are, what they are. Kids come up to me and say that, like when you come out with the album, I didn't feel like I was unworthy anymore. A lot of people will say stuff like that when they found out I was mixed because it made them feel better about themselves because they were seeing somebody else like them. For me that's a huge achievement.
Urban Essentials: We'll talk a bit about your private life, you went through a divorce in a public eye, tabloids that say rubbish about you weekly. If you so much go to dinner, you're surrounded by the press. How hard is it to be in the constant glare of the public eye with your private life?
Mariah: The funny thing is, the private life that they create for me is like bizarre and so I read the stuff and sometimes it just makes me laugh. They wrote this thing about a fat farm breakdown, 'her staff were forced to go on the same diet and then they snuck out to eat cheese burgers, then took breath mints so she wouldn't know.' I'm sitting there and thinking I was not in a fat farm, I was in a spa, with fattening food there that I could've eaten. I don't even care about fast food and if they wanted to eat hamburgers till the cows came home, I don't care. That I had plastered on my wall as a joke, I put it up on my kitchen, because I thought it was funny. It's weird to be in the public eye but I feel like I'm the same person when I started internally and I notice a lot of people before they're successful and after, they change. Fame really twists them out and I think because I didn't feel famous until lately, that it didn't do that to me.
Urban Essentials: Do you think that is probably one of the things that fans love about Mariah, that you have kept you feet on the ground. You hear so many stories about Divas. I've only met you a couple of times but you seem like one of the nicest people we've met in the industry. Do you think because you've kept your feet firmly on the ground that that's something that the fans can tap into?
Mariah: I think maybe they feel that, maybe they understand that. When I meet fans, we talk like we're talking now, unless somebody's crying because when somebody's crying, it makes me cry. I think they can sense that because the real fans know that I care about them and appreciate them.
Urban Essentials: Personal favourites on the album for yours truly are "You Had Your Chance," "You Got Me," "Boy (I Need You), "Irresistible." On this album you've used some real retro beats as well as taking it to another level. Was that a purposely planned thing or did that just fall into place. 
Mariah: It just fell into place, like I've done that before. A lot of things I've done more like remixes - take 'Heartbreaker' which was Snoop Dogg's 'Aint No Fun', the one with Missy and Da Brat. That I think was a template for a lot of different things, using 'Aint No Fun' is not like using an old, old record but it really worked for the clubs because people would mix 'Aint No Fun' into that so I gotta give credit to DJ Clue for that idea. I think for this album is was like using some new school things like 'Boy (I Need You)', being the new Just Blaze track and 'You Got Me' the one with Freeway and Jay Z, it sounds like a loop but it's a track that he created from scratch. 
Urban Essentials: About four years ago, we saw you perform at Wembley, just after ' Rainbow ' had been released. The tickets were sold out in a matter of hours. Are there any plans for Mariah to come back to the UK and tour because there's so many people that wanna see that.
Mariah: Definitely I will come back and tour, in October and I can't wait to perform live in the UK again.

Das neue Video von Mariah Carey, "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" debütierte bei MTV Asia, MTV Lateinamerika und Much Music Kanada. In Europa wird der Clip noch nicht zu sehen sein, da hier die Single voraussichtlich erst im September erscheint.

Die Tix für die USA Konzerte von Mariah verkaufen sich offenbar bestens, laut Ticketmaster gibt es auch für das Konzert in Las Vegas (The Colosseum At Caesars Palace) keine Karten mehr zu kaufen.

"BOTH" im Oktober im CD-Shop?
CD Schweiz, Musik-Onlineanbieter, will wissen, daß die neue Single "Bringin On The Heartbreak" von Mariah Carey am 10. Oktober veröffentlicht wird. Ein offizieller Release-Termin von Mariah's Plattenfirma liegt aber noch nicht vor.

Mariah und Techno?
Eine Verbindung, die man nicht auf Anhieb vermutet, zumindest für jene, die Mariah's Remix' nicht kennen: Mariah Carey und Techno Musik. Aber jetzt ist z.B. der "Through The Rain The Hex Hector/Mac Quayle Club Remix" auf dem Techno-Album "Dance Factory: Level 2" von DJ Louie Devito erschienen.. 
Es gibt von Mariah übrigens eine Vielzal von Remix in den verschiedensten Musikrichtungen.

Nach einer Information von Mariah Connection soll die für den 22. September erwartete Herausgabe des Mariah Carey Remix Albums in Europa zwei CD's umfassen. Eine mit Dance-, eine mit Urban-Remix'.

Tourt Mya mit Mariah?
Die Sängerin Mya soll laut U Daily News Mariah Carey bei einigen Konzerten (die Rede ist von 10) in den USA supporten. Mya wurde bekannt mit Songs wie "Ghetto Superstar", ("Take Me There" oder "It's All About Me". 
Offiziell bestätigt ist das aber noch nicht.

Tour in Japan abgeschlossen
Mariah Carey hat ihre Konzerttour durch Japan mit den Auftritten in Nagoya (sinnigerweise in der "Rainbow Hall") erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Mit 10 Konzerten gab Mariah so viele wie noch nie bei einem Japanaufenthalt.
Nach einer kleinen Pause wird Mariah Carey ab 26. Juli durch die USA touren. Start ist in Las Vegas. Und es soll zusätzlich zum jetzigen Plan zwei weitere Konzerte geben, am 10. September in Philadelphia, PA: Tower Theatre, und am 15. September in Columbus, OH: Schottenstein Center. Damit würde Mariah bei ihrer "Charmbracelet"-Tour in den USA insgesamt 25 Konzerte geben.

Ticketmaster meldet, dass das Konzert von Mariah Carey in der New Yorker Radio City Hall ausverkauft ist.

"Sweet Scienece" der Durchbruch?
Das kanadische Magazin "The Best Beat" befasst sich in seiner Juli-Ausgabe nicht nur mit der aktuellen Tour von mariah Carey, sondern auch mit ihrer Schauspielkarriere. Und die sei auf dem besten Wege. Nach dem enttäuschenden Debüt mit "Glitter" habe man ihr in dem Film "Wise Girls" eine "überraschend gute Darstellung" bescheinigt. Von ihrem neuen Film "Sweet Sience" heisst es, Mariah Carey würde mit ihrer schauspielerischen Leistung die Leute glatt umhauen. 
Mit dem Erfolg von "I Know What You Want" und ihrer "Charmbracelet"-Konzerttour sei offenbar ihr Leben wieder auf der Reihe. Und gegen einen neuen Mann habe sie auch nichts einzuwenden, wenn ihr der richtige über den Weg laufe.

Mariah nach Zwischenstop auf Capri zurück in die USA
Mariah Carey hatte einen kurzen Zwischenstop auf ihrer Lieblingsinsel Capri eingelegt, wo sie sich ein wenig von ihrer Tour durch Japan erholte, bevor sie heute zurück in die USA reist. Sie wird in den Staaten in Las Vegas erwartet, wo sie am 26.7. im Caesar’s Colosseum ihr erstes US Konzert geben wird.

Airplays
Auch die neue Single von Mariah Carey, "Bringin On The Heartbreak", findet - wie ihre Vorgänger vom Album "Charmbracelet" - wenig Gehör bei den US Radiostationen. Die Airplays bleiben weiter schwach. Der Song ist nur in einem Format einigermaßen gut notiert: Rang 28 in der Kategorie Adult Contemporary. Und so wird wohl auch diese Single in den US Charts wenig Erfolg haben.

Meet & Greet mit Mariah
Wie schon in Japan werden auch in den USA die Fans - soweit sie Mitglieder des offiziellen Fanclubs Honey B.Fly sind - Gelegenheit haben, Mariah Carey nach den Konzerten backstage zu treffen. Nach jeder Show werden 10 Fanclubmitglieder eingeladen zu einem Meet & Greet mit Mariah. Jedes Mitglied kann dabei einen Gast mitbringen. Bei dem Treffen können Fotos gemacht, Fanbooks und kleine Aufmerksamkeiten an Mariah übergeben werden.

US-Tour beginnt
Mariah Carey startet heute ihre "Charmbracelet"-Tour durch die USA. Erster Termin ist heute in Las Vegas, das Konzert ist ausverkauft. Mariah wird bis zum 23. September durch über 20 Städte reisen und dabei auch einen Abstecher nach Kanada machen.

Release-Durcheinander
Geraume Zeit ist die Rede von einem Re-Release von "Charmbracelet", das mit erweiterter Trackliste neu herausgegebene Album ist in Asien schon erschienen, dafür gibt es nach wie vor keine zuverlässigen Angaben für die USA und Europe. Eigentlich sollte in den Staaten die CD kommende Woche rauskommen, aber in den Plattenshops weiß man nichts davon. Und für Europa liegt noch kein Datum vor. Cat hat bei MC's Label in Deutschland nachgefragt und auch die können dazu noch keine Auskunft geben.
Auch für das von SONY geplante Album "Mariah Carey - The Remix" Album wechselt ständig das datum, an dem es angeblich erscheinen soll. Bleibt weiter nur warten.

MTV Music Video Awards Nominees
Dank des Busta Rhymes ft. Mariah Carey Songs "I Know What You Want" hat Mariah tatsächlich mal ne Nominierung für die MTV Video Music Awards bekommen. (Einen MTV Video Music Award übrigens noch nie). Vielleicht muss sie auch erst 71 Jahre werden wie Johnny Cash, der gleich sechs Nominerungen erhielt! Die meisten hat übrigens Missy Elliott mit 8, gefolgt von Justin Timberlake mit 7.

Mariah begeisterte Fans in Las Vegas
Einen großartigen Beginn ihrer Konzerttour durch die USA konnte Mariah Carey in Las Vegas feiern. Im The Colosseum at Caesars Palace begeistete sie sie ihre Fans mit einem überzeugenden Auftritt. Ihre stimmliche Verfassung sei hervorragend gewesen, ganz die alte Mariah, sie habe so toll gesungen wie beim vielgelobten Konzert 1995 im New Yorker Madison Square Garden. Für eine fabelhafte Interpretation von "Can't Take That Away" gab es stehende Ovationen. Einige wenige Parts beim Konzert - wie schon gewohnt während der Tanzszenen - waren play back gesungen. Sonst alles Live und alles bestens. 
Episoden am Rande: 
Eine Vorgruppe gab es nicht, statt dessen lief eine Videomontage über Mariah.
Bei der Performance von "I'll Be There" lief ein Fan auf die Bühne und begann mitzusingen, die Security ließ ihn offenbar gewähren, er durfte sogar eine Songzeile solo singen (was sich aber fürchterlich angehört habe :-))
Und Mariah habe sich das Lachen nicht verbeißen können als sie jemand sah, der ein T-Shirt trug mit der Aufschrift "J.Lo Sucks".
Und Eminem bekam von Mariah auch einen mit: Bei der Aufführung von "Clown" war auf einem Display das Wort "marionette show" zu lesen - mit einem umgekehrte E wie auf Eminems Album...
Für die Fans gabs übrigens beim Konzert ein Tourbook zu kaufen.

Gute Konzertkritiken
Für ihren Tourauftakt hat Mariah Carey gute Kritiken bekommen. So schreibt Roger Friedman (sonst nicht unbedingt immer Carey-freundlich :-)) in den Fox News, daß seine Erwartung etwas Besonderes zu sehen und zu hören nicht enttäuscht wurde. Carey habe mit ihrem Konzert einen "Grand Slam Home Run" gelandet. Sie habe mit kontrollierter, kraftvoller Stimme gesungen und bei dem restlos ausverkauften 1 Stunden 45 Minuten Auftritt vor 4100 Besuchern alle Gerüchte von einer angeblichen Bühnenangst widerlegt.
Bühnenshow und Ausstattung sei intim, elegant und unaufdringlich gewesen, Tänzer und Backgroundsänger hätten sich gut eingefügt und eher wie Freunde bei einer gemeinsamen Unterhaltung statt wie übliches Beiwerk gewirkt.
Mariah Carey sei bei bester Stimme gewesen und habe auf übertriebene "Stimmakrobatik" verzichtet.
Bemerkenswert sei gewesen, daß die Liveperformance ihrer "Charmbracelet"-Songs besser gewesen sei als die Originalversionen auf der so leidlich erfolgreichen CD.
Mit dem Konzert sei im übrigen die Arbeit von Carey nicht zu Ende gewesen. Mit großer Geduld und offenbar auch mit Freude habe sie nach der Show für endlos viele Fotos posiert, darunter auch mit Mitgliedern ihres Fanclubs, und freundlich kleine Geschenke und Fanbücher ihrer Verehrer entgegengenommen. Dabei hätte sie doch nach 2 Stunden Gesang einfach "Gute Nacht" sagen und die Leute einfach rausschmeissen können...

Fans feierten Mariah in Chicago
Bei Mariah Daily kann man in der Toursektion einige Fanberichte nachlesen über Mariah's Konzert in Chicago und alle schwelgen in Begeisterung. Obwohl die Halle nicht ausverkauft war, herrschte offenbar eine gute Stimmung. 
Für die Fans gab es übrigens 7 verschiedene T-Shirts und Tops sowie ein Tourbook zu kaufen.
Die Fans, die das Glück hatten Backstagekarten zu besitzen, gabs in der Wartezeit ein Bankett und danach die Gelegenheit mit Mariah zu sprechen und Erinnerungsfotos zu machen. Mariah hat wohl inzwischen schon ne Menge Fanbücher und andere Geschenke bekommen, denn sie scherzte, daß ihr "Fanroom" in ihrem Appartement schon voll wäre.

Auch bei MTV US kann man in den News einen Bericht lesen.

Mariah will boxen
Bislang hieß es, Mariah Carey würde in dem Film "The Sweet Science" eine Box- Promoterin spielen. Nun berichten die Mercury News, daß Mariah Carey lieber die Rolle der Boxerin haben wollte. Sie habe dafür schon Box-Unterricht genommen. Auch am Soundtrack für den Film wolle Carey mitarbeiten.

Europa Tour Dates
Mariah's offizielle Seite informiert, daß das Konzert in Manchester (England) auf den 1. November verlegt wurde. Die bereits verkauften Tickets behalten ihre Gültigkeit. Durch die Verlegung habe sich die Möglichkeit ergeben in Großbritannien ein weiteres Konzert zu geben: am 25. Oktober in Glasgow (im SECC).
